Ringtones

Free MP3 Ringtones. These will work on a Windows Mobile device and any other phone that can use MP3 files as a ringtone. Some phones, the Pantone Matrix for instance, require the file to be less than 300KB in size. If you need a smaller file, choose the file that has _sm at the end, where available. If there is no _sm option, the file is already below 300KB. There are also a few midi ringtones, designited by a .mid extension.

Want to create your own MP3 ringtones from your favorite songs? All you need is a copy of Audacity (a free audio editor) and LAME (an encoder Audacity needs to save MP3 files). Once you get both installed and configured, just follow the directions below.

1. Open the song in Audacity
2. Select a 20-30 second section you want to use as the ringtone
3. Choose Export Selection as MP3 from the File menu
4. Give the file a name and save it
5. Transfer the MP3 file to your phone and select it as a ringtone
